Memory Game Fishing
Want a new twist to the card game "Memory"? You can create a whole new meaning to the game in a matter of minutes! Players can now go fishing to find matches to the cards! All you'll need are some Memory game cards, some paperclips, and a magnetic fishing rod. First, put a paperclip on each card and place them all face down. You can buy a magnetic fishing rod or make your own. To make your own, you'll need a 3 to 4 inch dowel, some string, and a U-shaped magnet. Have an adult drill a small hole through the end of the dowel and tie the string through it. Tie the magnet to the other end of the string. To play the game, use the same rules as memory and use the fishing rod to pick up the cards. If they do not match, throw them back into the "deep blue sea." If they are matches, then keep them. For a harder version, put all the cards into a bucket or other small container and "fish" for matches that way. You can also use this idea for other games such as "Go Fish." Deal each player seven cards and place all extras in a bucket or other small container. Play as normal, and when a player says "go fish," use the fishing rod and fish out of the bucket.
